Who would have thought that such a simple little three-letter word could cause such turbulence?
The Boston Tea Party marked America's struggle for independence from Great Britain in 1773, when angry colonists threw tea chests into Boston harbour, in support of their demand: "No taxation without representation". They objected to paying taxes to the mother-country, especially on imported British goods, without having any say in the tariffs. And what a terrible waste of precious tea.
